Only an hour drive from Binghamton nestled in the cozy hamlet of Ithaca awaits a golfing experience of a life time. Make no mistake here, Hillendale is a golf course for all golfers - men or women - young or old, experienced or a beginner, it's a course that emphasizes what the game is really all about. The front side of Hillendale is like playing a shortened version of Green Lakes. It was build around 1925 and its rolling hills and beautiful vies inspired the course name. The seventh hole, a rascal par three (139 Back tees, 115 forward tees) is without a doubt the most uniquely designed par three. The back nine was made around 1991 and has been (accurately) described as the perfect contrast to the front nine. It's relatively flat terrain and tree lined fairways require accurate tee shots and gentle irons in. When you reach the 15th hold, a tree lined short par four (332 back tees, 293 front tees), a charming little gazebo seemed to invite us in for a rest. Hillendale is more than a well maintained, well manicured golf course - it is a living, working philosophy of what a golf course needs to be for ninety percent of the players in the world.
